Our Ten-Fold Vision

To strive for excellence in all endeavors

To be a church where all are welcomed

To establish people in the truth of the Bible, thus producing disciples of Jesus Christ

To have knowledgeable and compassionate pastoral staff who can and do help people

To encourage participation by all members in ministry (‘meeting the needs of others in Jesus’ Name”)

►  To present the “good news” of God’s salvation, offered through the Lord Jesus Christ frequently, if not weekly

To encourage the development of small groups, where people may experience real friendship and personal growth

►  To have a world mindset; a desire to minister beyond the walls of the church to other countries and people groups.

To continually develop the acreage and facilities for community and spiritual ministry

To glorify God in all that we do

Our Principles

We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the verbal inspiration of the original manuscripts of the Old and New Testaments.

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and that He substitutionally atoned for our sins and rose from the dead for our justification.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the just and unjust dead.

We believe in the eternal joy of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost; and

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take His church to be with Him and to reign with Him.

A Brief History

The Chapel in Marlboro began as a mission church. Joel Cochran, founding pastor, had been Associate Pastor at The Chapel in University Park with Dr. David Burnham. In 1976, Joel and Serena Cochran felt God would have them begin a church and they chose the attractive Marlboro community as the site for the church-planting effort. Sixteen adults and five children formed the nucleus for the fledgling church. The first services were conducted on October 3, 1976. Since that time, the church has experienced steady growth.

At first, the services were conducted in an abandoned church building on the square in Marlboro, then moved to the Marlington Middle School in November of 1977. In 1978 the congregation acquired acreage on Edison Street (State Route 619) one mile east of State Route 44. The original sanctuary was completed in August 1979. A classroom annex was added to the original construction in 1981. In 1990 a spacious, attractive sanctuary was built, and in 1999 the Safe Harbor family life center was added. The Chapel has been blessed through the years with fine people whom God has gathered into His family of believers.

The Chapel in Marlboro is located on State Route 619, 1/2 mile east of State Route 44, 6 miles NW of Alliance, and 6 miles E of Hartville, Ohio
